Root canal is a procedure that is needed when decay has progressed into the nerve of the tooth. Permanent tooth damage can be prevented by surgically removing the living tissue that contains the nerve. It can also help people with highly sensitive teeth.

Exploring the Types of Dental Implants

There are two types of dental implants that are used depending on individual requirements:

  1. Endosteal Implants: These are the most common type and are inserted directly into the jawbone. They are typically made from titanium and shaped like small screws.
  2. Zygomatic Implants: These are the least common and are used when regular implants are not suitable. They are longer than conventional implants and anchored in the zygoma (cheekbone) rather than the jawbone. These implants are often used in cases of severe bone loss in the upper jaw.

Frequently Asked Questions

Losing even a single tooth can affect your bite. The loss of a natural tooth can be caused by an accident, or lack of maintenance over time resulting in tooth decay. Sadly, adult teeth cannot grow back after extraction, leaving you with an empty gap. When a natural tooth is missing, the teeth on either side of the gap can shift and move, causing you to develop a bad bite. Irregular bites are more likely to develop tooth decay and gum disease because bacteria can build up in areas that are often missed through daily brushing.

A dental implant will fill in the gap and keep your existing natural teeth in place. By having a full set of teeth, your jawline will be fully supported, allowing your teeth to function as per usual.

To ensure your safety and comfort, your dentist will carefully inspect your jaw through visual examination and x-rays. At Pain Free Dental Clinic, we are committed to providing our patients a stress-free dental experience. We will run you through the entire procedure for your peace of mind. If you are feeling nervous or anxious, our team can provide you with a range of sedatives including happy gas and conscious sedation.

During the procedure, a hole is drilled into the jawbone, and a titanium screw is placed inside. The implant needs to be left in the jawbone for four to six months. This will allow the screw to fuse into your bone tissue, ready to hold your permanent crown securely for day-to-day living.

Like any dental procedure, there may be elements of pain and discomfort, but this can be managed and minimised.

In the first 24 hours after a tooth implant is placed, gum tends to swell slightly. In this stage, the gum tender, and you may have inflammation, making it slightly difficult to eat.

After a surgical procedure, it is imperative to stay hydrated and to get plenty of rest. Take care not to put too much pressure on the dental implant by brushing your natural teeth gently.

Dental implants can cause pain if they become infected, which is preventable by practising good oral hygiene. You should consult your dentist if you notice any symptoms of infection. When necessary, your dentist will prescribe an antibiotic. Also, your dentist will prescribe Special mouth wash if it is needed. As a result, your mouth will be free of bacteria, and you should avoid infection.

At Pain Free Dental Clinic, we pride ourselves on our patient-centred approach. Since 2006, our family-owned clinic has been dedicated to providing a comfortable dental experience. We employ advanced techniques and technologies, including needle-free injections.

Preparing for a dental implant procedure involves several steps. It’s important to maintain good oral hygiene leading up to the procedure. Ensure you have a detailed discussion with your dentist about your medical history and any medications you’re taking, as these can impact the procedure. It’s also a good idea to arrange for someone to drive you home after the extraction.

At Pain Free Dental Clinic, we offer professional teeth whitening services tailored to meet individual needs and preferences. Our whitening treatments are designed to remove stains and discolouration resulting from factors like coffee consumption, smoking or natural ageing. Our dentist will assess your oral health and discuss your aesthetic goals to recommend a suitable whitening option. Contact us today to learn more.

After receiving dental fillings, continue with good oral hygiene practices, including brushing twice a day and flossing daily.  If you experience sensitivity or discomfort, consult our dentist in Moss Vale. Regular dental check-ups are important to monitor the condition of your fillings.

Laser dentistry offers several benefits, including reduced discomfort and minimised swelling and accelerate healing. The versatility of laser dentistry allows for a broader range of treatments to be performed more efficiently, reducing both the treatment time and the number of visits required. This not only enhances patient comfort and convenience but also improves overall treatment precision.
